Why do I get turned on by violent men?

Ive never been hit...but I had a boyfriend who could get pretty mean and verbally abusive. He threatened to kill me once . But now I hear about him punching his current girlfriend and I feel like...aroused. :( Also he has done time and I like to think of him in his prison garb when I ...pleasure myself. can someone explain the physiology of this to me???
